We're Walking It Off

Saturday 5 of us went for a 4 mile hike. We try to walk often, however, it doesn't always work out that we can all get together. My daughter-in-law Patty (yellow blouse on the right of the photo) came for a visit. At our Friday night group dinner, we girls decided that we'd take a walk together on Saturday. The weather was PERFECT! I'm a big heat baby and don't like walking when the temperatures are over 70....ok, maybe I'll go all the way to 80! I love these girls! They keep me moving toward my goal....I'm at 45 pounds lost and I'm now able to walk 4 to 5 miles at a time. (Before Weight Watchers, I could barely walk 1/4 mile to the post office). This year I walked in my first 5K...not a big one, but most certainly a beginning. I hope to be able to do a 1/2 Marathon by spring.

Pictured in the photo are: Me on the left - next to me is Wendy - Next to Wendy is Tracy and Next to Tracy is Patty. Carolyn took the photo....so, I cropped her out of one of the photos and she is in the little photo to the right, along with Wendy, who is being very naughty! Which is nothing new! With the exception of Patty, we are all members of Weight Watchers. In addition to accomplishing our goals, it's been a great place to meet great people and a fantastic support group.....we all have one thing in common....we don't look back, we don't look down, we look forward and we are all pulling together to get to our goals.

I didn't mean this to be a big pitch for Weight Watchers, but I'm so excited that we girls are all members and we're sure progressing because of it. I'm 64 and doing things I couldn't do when I was 40.....so, THANK YOU GIRLS, THANK YOU WEIGHT WATCHERS!

Our Little Cricut Girl-Virginia

Hello and Happy Sunday. This morning on Operation Write Home's Facebook page, 3 cards were posted. Two of the cards were made by my buddy Virginia. The two cards are DogGone I miss You and Hello Dear. Virginia is our card groups Cricuit Girl. I think she's working on having every cartridge Cricut makes and she's doing a great job of it! What is best about having the cartridges.....she is using them and she's creating some really cool cards! Kathy from County Purr Farm created the Friends card. Great Job Virginia....you are quite the Cricut talent! Kathy, it's great having you join Operation Write Home, even though you live out of the area. We hope you can join us on one of our OWH days. Kathy thank you for being a part of our group effort....by the way...Nice job on that card!

Operation Write Home has become a favorite project for the girls in the SOS group at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. I've put links to Operation Write Home's blog page, their Facebook page and to Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. I hope some of you will be interested in joining us on the last Tuesday of every month, or contacting Operation Write Home for more information about starting your own local group. It's a win-win situation.....we get to do what we love - make cards and we get to share them with people we know deserve them. What could be better?

I'll have another non-card related post later today. So check back and have a look! Until then, have a wonderful day (we are the weather is finally cooler), and I'll see you soon!

September Cards

As promised. Here are the cards for my September class. The few cool mornings made me think of the weather changing and the cool days ahead. I love the change of season and Fall is my favorite time of the year. For my second card, I was thinking about early September afternoons. The sun is still hot, the tomato plants are heavy with fruit and the afternoon sun remains much warmer than I prefer.
I'm stealing these few minutes. My step-son Jeff and his wife Patty are here and after a day of greatly enjoying their visit, followed by a great dinner with friends, I'm hearing the quiet sounds of night as everyone, but me and one of my puppies, are tucked into bed. I wanted to get this post completed, and pad off to bed. Tomorrow it's a 4 or 5 mile hike, girls only, followed by a movie. Thankfully it will be cool in the morning......
Have a wonderful Saturday.....
Off to bed I go....

20 minute Card

I wanted one more card to show at class tomorrow. I really like the Lotus die. This card was made in under 20 minutes. I like it....yes I do! Flowers were purchased some time ago from Karen at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique, as was the Lotus Pendant and Border. Karen also has the beautiful pearls. I'm not sure where I purchased the Cuttlebug folder...they sure are a quick was to fancy up plain card stock.

Tomorrow I will post my September class cards.

Have a GREAT week. I'm excited, my step-son and daughter-in-law are coming for a long visit. I should get moving and get some shopping done.

See you tomorrow!

Cinderella Birthday

My August class is filled - thank you to everyone who will be joining me. I think you'll have a great time with the two cards. I'm being very kind this month....your kits are "almost" totally cut....aren't you lucky! I'm really loving making the August cards and last night, while my honey was watching one of his shows, I made this card. Karen will have to help me with the names of the DP....it's beautiful, and best of all, it's glittery....really glittery. The poke-a-dots are glittered, the black DP is glittered....guess what, I like glitter!

Speaking of glitter and Karen at Paradise Scrapbook Boutique, I dropped in yesterday and I always ask...what's new, and there is always something new. The little shoe...it's new! How cute. She glittered a pair she put on display. Wouldn't this make a great pin cushion? I am sending my shoe to my granddaughter. She is coming from Australia at Christmas and we are going to Disneyland. Every little girl needs a Cinderella shoe! She's getting so excited about her trip and she and I are going to be fairy princesses.....I can hardly wait!

I may be a bit absent this coming week, it is going to be a very busy one. Class on Tuesday also a Car Show, Weight Watchers on Thursday and best of all, my step-son and daughter-in-law are coming for 4 days! I can hardly wait! To my new friends at Silver Stampers.....if I'm slow getting cards out to each of you....I promise I'll be responding to all your great cards very soon!
I guess I'd best get cleaning.....So, have a wonderful week! See you all soon!

My August Class - UPDATE

UPDATE: Good morning....a quick note. My class is full....however, if you want to call Karen and get on a waiting list....530-876-8037. Speaking of Karen, if you haven't been to her blog page in awhile....you might want to check out her new pretties.... She's getting new things every day.... Paradise Scrapbook Boutique. Off I go, lots to do today. Oh...quick reminder..... Tuesday is SOS day!

Can you believe it is August? Where does the time go? I wanted to get these two cards on line as my August is getting crazy....Between our kids coming for a visit and a mini-vacation, it will be mid-August before I know it. This class will be on August 17th, from 1:00 to 4:00. The class is filling up quickly, so sign up soon.

I had a great weekend with my son. He is helping me learn how to use Photo Shop Elements. I created 3 digital pages (I'll show them soon), and by the third page, I was feeling pretty smart. Let's hope this ole girl can retain at least 1/2 of what I've learned.

Off I go to put some kits together.....have a wonderful week and I'll see you soon!
